Abstract

Lithiation of ureas (I) and (VI) followed by quenching with various electrophiles, such as aldehydes (II), ketones (IV) and alkyl halides (VII) affords the corresponding 3‐substituted isoindolin‐1‐ones (III), (V), and (VIII), respectively, in good yields.
