Novel Unsymmetrical ortho-Metalated Dirhodium(II) Catalysts: trans Influence of the Axial Ligand.

-The Rh-catalyzed decomposition of the diazoketone (I) resulting in formation of the bicyclic ketone (II) is investigated in detail. The inductive effect of X axial groups which are transmitted through the Rh-Rh bond are discussed.
