Novel tele Nucleophilic Aromatic Substitutions in α-( Benzotriazol-1yl)alkyl Aryl Ketones. -Reaction of ketones (III), (VI), (VIII) and (XI) with alkyllithiums ( IV) or Grignard reagents (XII) affords para-substituted products (V), ( VII), (IX), and (XIII), respectively. A bulky trisubstituted methyl group attached to the carbonyl group is required in order to block it from nucleophilic attack.
