-The first syntheses of the heretofore unknown 2'-deoxy pyrazine C-nucleosides (IV) and (VIII) are described. The convergent approach involves palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling and a stereospecific reduction as key steps. Exocyclic amines on the pyrazine do not prevent the coupling reaction and substituents on the 5-hydroxy group of the glycal do not alter the β-selectivity of this process. -(WALKER,
