✦ Synopsis

New Total Synthesis of (-)-and (+)-Chuangxinmycins.

-Natural chuangxinmycin (VIII), which is effective in the treatment of E. coli caused infections, and its enantiomers are prepared starting from (+)-(I) or (+)-(II), respectively. Key steps in the synthesis of ( VIII) are the double enzymatic resolution of racemic (I), the stereospecific transformation of alcohol (V) into mercaptan (VI) and the Pd-catalyzed formation of the thiopyran (VII).
