✦ Synopsis
Investigations of three systems lead to the stabilization of new pseudo-ternary RT(T' 0.5 X 1.5 ) and R 3 T 2 T' 2 X 4 compounds with TbFeSi 2 and U 3 Ni 4 Si 4 -type structures. These are characterized by a stacking of RT 2 X 2 (BaAl 4 -type) and RT'X (AlB 2 -type) layers. Therefore, the new alloys may represent members of a structural series with general composition R n+1 T 2 T'nX 2+n (n = 1, 2), which are stabilized through strong T'X interlayer bonds. Correlations with the ThCr 2 Si 2 -CaBe 2 Ge 2 dimorphism are underlined.
