-4-Nitrooxazoles (II), prepared from isoxazoles (I) by an improved procedure, are used as synthetic equivalents of nitrovinyl cations by ring opening with amine nucleophiles providing a new access to polyfunctionalized nitroenamine systems. Compounds (IIb,c) furnish complex mixtures of inseparable products on reaction with primary amines. -
