✦ Synopsis
xFe0.5Cr0.5O3 (0.4 ≤ x ≤ 1). -The title solid solution is synthesized by calcination of a gel (900 °C, 12 h) obtained from a mixture of Bi(NO3)3, La(NO3)3, Fe(NO3)3, Cr(NO3)3, and 2-methoxyethanol. The samples are characterized by powder XRD, SAED, SEM, and electrical and magnetic measurements. They crystallize with a perovskite-type structure in the orthorhombic space group Pbnm, and exhibit a positive temperature coefficient for the resistivity at temperatures between 270 and 400 °C. For all the samples, zero-field-cooling curves appear above field-cooling ones, an anomalous feature that is interpreted as being due to complex ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic interactions in the B perovskite sublattice. -
