New Brominated and Halogen-Less Derivatives and Structure-Activity Relationship of Azaphilones Inhibiting gp120-CD4 Binding.

-New ochrephilone (III) and isochromophilone (Ib) are isolated from Penicillium multicolor FO-2338, fermented in a medium containing KBr, and characterized together with three known compounds (Ia), (II) and (IV). These derivatives and various other azaphilones are examined by gp120-CD4 binding assay. Compound (III) is found to be the strongest inhibitor.
