✦ Synopsis
N-ω-Carbethoxypentyl-4-quinolones: A New Class of Leukotriene Biosynthesis Inhibitors.
-Alkylation of (I) provides a mixture of Oand N-alkylated products with prevalence of the first ones in most cases. While oxyhexanoate derivatives (III) as well as oxyhexanoic acid derivatives (V) are not biologically active with regard to the inhibition of LTB4 and thromboxane B2 production, the N-alkylated compounds (IV) and (VI) prove to inhibit LTB4 biosynthesis, but their activity is modest in comparison to other known inhibitors.
