✦ Synopsis
The title compounds are prepared in high purity by reaction of SrO, BaO, Cr2O3, Fe3O4, Re2O7, and Re in a eutectic NaCl/KCl melt (750-800 °C, 3-6 h). The samples are characterized by powder XRD, SEM, and magnetic measurements. The particle sizes can be varied from about 50 nm to >1 μm depending on the specific flux conditions and the double-perovskite composition. Sr2FeReO6 crystallizes in the space group I4/m, and Ba2FeReO6 and Sr2CrReO6 in the space group Fm3m. Fe/Re or Cr/Re site disorder ranges from about 83-85% for Sr2FeReO6, about 90-97% for Ba2FeReO6, and about 84-90% for Sr2CrReO6. The compounds exhibit large temperature dependent magnetoresistivities due to high concentrations of grain boundaries. -(FUOCO, L.; RODRIGUEZ, D.;
