✦ Synopsis
Mo 3 O 5 (OH) 2 (AsO 4 ) 2 : A New Solid with a Structure Related to β-VOPO 4 .
-Single crystals of Mo 3 O 5 (OH) 2 (AsO 4 ) 2 are prepared by refluxing a solution of MoO 3 , As 2 O 5 •3H 2 O, and HNO 3 at 100 • C for 2 d and characterized by Rietveld refinement of the powder XRD data. The compound (monoclinic, C2/c, Z = 4) adopts a new structure type which is related to that of β-VOPO 4 . It is built-up from a three-dimensional covalent framework of corner-sharing MoO 6 and MoO 5 OH octahedra forming zigzag chains which are linked by AsO 4 tetrahedra.
