Mild Conditions for Oxazolidin-5-one Formation.

-Different acidcatalyzed cyclization reactions of 4 protected amino acids with paraformaldehyde are examined. The reaction of monosubstituted amino acids such as (Ia) gives good yields. Cyclization of disubstituted amino acids is less successful. -
