✦ Synopsis

Microwave Induced Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Bridgehead Nitrogen Heterocycles: Reactions of 4-Amino-5-mercapto-3-(4'-methylquinolinyl-2'-oxymethyl)/ (tetrazolyl-1'-methyl)-1,2,4-striazoles.

-The synthesis of a variety of bridgehead nitrogen heterocycles [cf. (III), (V), (VII), (IX); 16 examples] via microwave-induced cyclocondensation reactions of 4-amino-5-mercaptotriazoles (I) is described. The reaction rate and product yields are significantly enhanced under microwave irradiation as compared to classical methods. Results of antimicrobial screening show significant antibacterial and antifungal activities for some product heterocycles, e.g. (IIIa) and (Xb). -(KIDWAI, M.;
