Microwave-Induced Monohydroxymethylation and Monoalkoxylation of 1,4-Naphthoquinones. -Microwave irradiation or heating of naphthoquinones (I) with formaldehyde or alcohols in the presence of K 2 CO 3 or HgO results in formation of hydroxymethylated and alkoxylated naphthoquinones.
