Metal-Substituted Diazo Esters as Substrates for Cross Coupling Reactions. -The Hg compound (I) reacts with acid halides to yield diazo β-ketoesters, e.g. (III). Substitution reaction of (IIIa) with various nucleophiles affords the corresponding derivatives, such as (IV), (VI), (VIII), and (X). Base-promoted reaction of (IV) and (IIIc) with (XI) furnishes aldol products.
