Matrix Isolation Infrared and Density Functional Theoretical Studies of Organic Silanones, (CH 3 O) 2 Si=O and (C 6 H 5 ) 2 Si=O.
-The transient organic silanones (Me-O) 2 SiO and Ph 2 SiO generated by vacuum pyrolysis of (Ia) and (Ib), resp., are trapped in Ar cryogenic matrices at 12 K and directly studied by IR spectroscopy. Under the conditions of vacuum pyrolysis, (Ib) is found to be more thermodynamically stable than (Ia). In contrast (Ia) shows a higher kinetic stability towards cyclooligomerization than (Ib). -(KHABASHESKU, V.
