Magnetic Coupling in GdM2Si2 Compounds (M: Transition Metal).
-The results of studies of the temperature dependence of the ( reciprocal) susceptibility and of high-field free-powder measurements at 4.2 K of polycrystalline samples of GdFe1.95Si2.05 and GdMSi2 (M: Co, Ni, Cu, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Os, Ir, Pt, and Au) (tetragonal, ThCr2Si2 type, except for GdPt2Si2) are analyzed in terms of the two-sublattice model for an antiferromagnet. The exchange coupling constants obtained are discussed in terms of the lattice parameters, the volume, and the filling of the electron bands of the transition metals. -(TUNG, L. D.; FRANSE,
