LiLa 2 F 3 (SO 4 ) 2 and LiEr 2 F 3 (SO 4 ) 2 : Fluoride-Sulfates of the Rare-Earth Elements with Lithium. -Single crystals of the title compounds are obtained from melts of Ln 2 (SO 4 ) 3 (Ln: La, Er) and LiF (sealed gold tubes, 900 β€’ C). LiLa 2 F 3 (SO 4 ) 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group I2/a with Z = 4 and LiEr 2 F 3 (SO 4 ) 2 is orthorhombic, space group Pbcn, Z = 4. Both structures contain dimeric units of metal atoms connected to each other by three fluoride ions leading to short metal-metal distances (La-La: 389 pm, Er-Er:
