✦ Synopsis
Lewis-Acid-Base-Reactions of Gold Trihalides with Bismuth Trihalides -Synthesis and Structures of AuBiX 6 (X: Cl, Br).
-Reaction of BiX 3 (X: Cl, Br) with the corresponding Au trihalide in sealed ampoules yields the 1:1 adducts AuBiX 6 in about 60% yields. Orange crystals of AuBiCl 6 , obtained by chemical transport reaction at 220 • C, and dark-red crystals of AuBiBr 6 , prepared by solvothermal reaction in SiBr 4 at 150 • C, are characterized by single-crystal XRD methods. The isotypic compounds (triclinic, P1, Z = 4) are built-up from square planar [AuX 4 ] -anions and chains of edge-sharing ([BiX 4/2 ] + )n units in which each Bi is surrounded by eight X atoms in a square antiprismatic arrangement. -(BECK,
