Isolation of Alkaloids from Cultured Hybrid Cells of Rauwolfia serpentina x Rhazya stricta.
-Together with other known compounds the β-carboline derivative (I) is isolated from the title culture medium and its structure is elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The absolute configuration of the two asymmetric centers is still unclear. It may be possible that (I) is an artefact formed by condensation of tryptophan and a sugar unit. -
