Coupling Reactions of Allylic Thioesters with Diene Iron Tricarbonyl Systems.
-Intramolecular cyclization of allylic thio ester complexes and subsequent desulfurization of the spirocyclic products is investigated with a view to potential application in organic synthesis. Thio ester complexes are found to be less reactive toward metal-assisted cyclization than the corresponding amide analogues. The range of substrates that undergo the cyclization is limited to simple, less-substituted derivatives. The low reactivity is attributed to stereoelectronic and steric restrictions. -(PEARSON, A.
