✦ Synopsis

Co3O4 and H3BO3 in a Walker-type multi-anvil apparatus (6 GPa, 880 °C (Fe), 950 °C (Co), 10 min) and characterized by single crystal XRD, IR, Raman, and UV/VIS spectroscopy. They crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pmn21 with Z = 2. The structure contains corner-sharing BO 4 tetrahedra and distorted BO 3 groups, which are close to BO4 tetrahedra considering additional oxygen atoms from neighboring BO4 tetrahedra in the coordination sphere. This situation is regarded as an intermediate state in the formation of edge-sharing tetrahedra. Fe6B22O39•H2O exhibits a remarkable intensity of second harmonic generation, but is less intensive than KH2PO4. -
