✦ Synopsis
Interaction of Salts of N-(β-Hydroxyalkyl)-N'-hydroxydiazene N-Oxides with Methylene Dihalides.
-Reaction of the title diazene N-oxide salts (I) with dihalogenomethanes (II) selectively affords the methylenebis(diazene N-oxides) (III). The best yield is obtained for the reaction of isopropyl-substituted tetramethylammonium salt with dichloromethane in hot acetonitrile [cf. (IIIf)]. Dipolar aprotic as well as hydroxyl-containing solvents, use of alkali metal or higher ammonium salts of (I) as well as lower temperatures decrease the yields. -(LUK'YANOV, O. A.; SMIRNOV, G.
