β¦ Synopsis
Influence of the Microstructure on the Desorption Kinetics of Singleand Multiphase LaNiFe Alloys.
-The desorption kinetics of D 2 is studied on La(Ni 0.7 Fe 0.3 ) 5 and La(Ni 0.7 Fe 0.3 ) 5 -Ni 0.7 Fe 0.3 alloys. At low hydrogen concentrations [D]/[AB 5 ] β€ 0.5, the desorption kinetics of activated microcrystalline alloys are dominated by the influence of dislocations, which act as trapping sites for hydrogen atoms. In the presence of both the Ξ± and hydride phase, the phase transformation of the latter or diffusion in the Ξ² phase is the rate controlling process with an activation enthalpy of 0.39 eV for deuterated samples. The measured activation enthalpy for D 2 diffusion in the Ξ± phase is Q = 0.
