✦ Synopsis
InCrBr 3 : A Ternary Indium Bromide Containing Jahn-Teller Unstable Cr 2+ and the Magnetic Structures of InCrBr 3 and InFeBr 3 .
-Single crystals of the title compound are obtained from an InBr 3 melt containing metallic Cr (evacuated glass tube, 450 • C, 5 d). The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /c with Z = 4. The Cr atoms are located within Jahn-Teller distorted Br 6 octahedra and the In atoms are located within strongly distorted, tricapped trigonal bromine prisms. InCrBr 3 exhibits Curie-Weiss paramagnetism and shows antiferromagnetic ordering below 12 K. -(SCHOLTEN, MICHAEL; DRONSKOWSKI, RICHARD;
