✦ Synopsis
Identification of an Unconventional Zinc Coordination Site in Anhydrous ZnxV 2 O 5 Aerogels from X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy. -V 2 O 5 aerogel is studied as an insertion host for cations. EXAFS analysis of ZnxV 2 O 5 (x = 0.14, 0.52, 0.72, 1.47) shows that the Zn 2+ ions are 4-fold coordinated by almost coplanar oxygen atoms. With increasing zinc insertion level, the first-shell Zn-O bond length shortens and the EXAFS Debye-Waller factor increases, suggesting a decrease of the local geometrical order of the first shell.
