Highly Efficient Alkylation of Epoxides with R 3 Al/H 2 O Systems Based on the Double Activation of Epoxy Oxygens.

-Trialkylaluminum reagents [cf (II)] modified with substoichiometric amounts of water are found to be superior for the alkylative ring opening of epoxides such as (I) and (VI).
