Heterocyclic Analogues of Prostaglandins with Modified ω-Chain

Based on Benzimidazole.

-The syntheses of some novel benzimidazole analogues of prostaglandins, in which the double bond is modified by a cyclopropane (IV) or an oxirane cycle (VI), are presented. Attempts to synthesize the corresponding dichlorocyclopropane bridged analogue by addition of dichlorocarbene to compound (I) are not successful.
