Ground State in CeAl3: A Ce(Al1-xMx)3 Study with M: Ga, Si, Ge, and Sn.

-Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility, the low-temp. specific heat, and the electrical resistance of the title compounds, prepared by arc melting and annealing at 800 • C, reveal an antiferromagnetic ground state for all samples. The data are consistent with that of CeAl3 and the anomalies in the low-temp. behavior of CeAl3 are attributed to antiferromagnetism. Decisive parameters for the magnetic behavior of CeAl3 and the title derivatives are discussed.
