-Ongoing interest in the chemistry of furopyridines leads to the investigation of different reactions with the title compounds. Bromination of the 2-cyano derivatives of (I) fails. In the case of a nitration experiment only (Ib) gives a 3-nitro product in 7%. The preparation of the N-oxides is described and all reactions are investigated with each of the four pyridine regioisomers. -(YA-
