✦ Synopsis

First Enantioselective Synthesis of (-)-(Z)-2,3-Methano-L-glutamic Acid.

-A very simple and concise methodology for the enantioselective synthesis of the title amino acid (VI) starting from homochiral aminopentanoate (I) is given. The homologation of the protected cycloaspartic acid (II), the key step of the sequence, is accomplished via the Arndt-Eistert procedure.
