✦ Synopsis

Fast Fabrication of Co 3 O 4 and CuO/BiVO 4 Composite Photocatalysts with High Crystallinity and Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity via Ultrasound Irradiation. -Co3O4/BiVO4 and CuO/BiVO4 composite photocatalysts are prepared by intense ultrasound irradiation of aqueous solutions containing Bi(NO3)3, NH4VO3, Cu(OAc)2 or Co(OAc)2, nonionic surfactant P123, EtOH, HNO3, and NaOH. The samples are characterized by powder XRD, SEM, XPS, UV/VIS, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The composite materials exhibit much higher photocatalytic activity for degradation of acid orange II under visible light irradiation than pure BiVO4. Co3O4/BiVO4 shows the highest efficiency at 3 wt.% Co and CuO/BiVO4 at 1 wt.% Cu content. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to the high crystallinity of BiVO4 and the formed p-n heterojunction. -(YU*, C.;
