✦ Synopsis
Fe 3+ Phosphor by B 3+ Doping. -Fe 3+ ,B 3+ co-doped LiAl5O8 phosphors are prepared by evaporation of aqueous solutions of LiNO3, Al(NO3)3, FeCl3, and H3BO3 (400 °C, 2 h) followed by annealing of the obtained powders at 1200 °C (10 h). The samples are characterized by powder XRD and excitation and emission spectroscopy. B 3+ doping enhances the red emission intensity of the LiAl 5 O 8 :Fe 3+ phosphor 2.62 times under 290 nm excitation and 2.31 times under 565 nm excitation. The deep red emission of the phosphor is useful in several applications, particularly in artificial illumination for plant growth and field emission displays.
