Enantioselective Synthesis of α-Amino Acids from Nitroalkenes.

-Careful oxidation of the addition products (I) of (R)-4-phenyl-2-oxazolidine and nitroalkenes yields the acids (II) which can be easily cleaved to D-α-amino acids of high optical purity.
