✦ Synopsis

The cathodic electrodeposition of PbSe 1-x Tex (0≤x≤1) from acidic aq. electrolytes containing Pb II cations and Se IV /Te IV anions is studied. Electrosynthesis of the solid solutions takes place at potentials more positive than the Nernst potential E(Pb 2+ /Pb 0 ) and proceeds by underpotential deposition of Pb on overpotentially deposited chalcogens. Multilayer periodic PbSe/PbSe 1-x Tex structures with 2.5-10 nm periods are produced by periodically changing the cathodic polarization level.
