✦ Synopsis
Dimers of Ag 2+ Ions -Synthesis and Characterization of the Quaternary Silver Fluoride Ag2ZnZr2F14 with [Ag2F7] 3-Units. -Deep blue-violet powders of Ag2ZnZr2F14 are synthesized by reaction of Zn(NO3)2, Ag, and ZrOCl2 (F2/Ar flow, 300 °C, 6 d). The compound crystallizes isotypically to Ag3Zr2F14 in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 2 (powder XRD). The structure contains discrete Ag2F7 dimers which are connected via nearly linear Ag-F•••F-Ag bridges with short F•••F distances (2.33 Å) to form two-legged ladders. The Ag 2+ ions in each Ag2F7 dimer are strongly antiferromagnetically coupled as revealed by magnetic susceptibility measurements and DFT calculations. -(TONG,
