Diastereoselective Synthesis of Cyclopropyl Boronic Esters.
-A simple and efficient protocol for the conversion of 1-alkynes to 2-alkylcyclopropanols is described. Thus, 1-alkyne-derived alkynyl boronic esters (I) are converted to chiral tartrates (IV) and then subjected to cyclopropanation providing esters (V) with moderate diastereoselectivity. Oxidative cleavage affords the cyclopropanols.
