β¦ Synopsis
Defect Structure and Solubility Range of Gallium-Doped Cobalt Oxide.
-Measurements of the electrical conductivity of polycrystalline Co1-xGa2x/3O as a function of temp. (800-1400 β’ C), oxygen activity ( 10-4-0.21), and composition (0 β€ x β€ 0.125) allow the ascertainment of the solid-solution limits of Ξ²-Ge2O3 in CoO. Depending on the Ga2O3 content, the electrical conductivity runs through more or less distinct minima at all temp. and oxygen activities. These dependences are explained by a novel defect model assuming the existence of 4:1 clusters and considering the contribution of free and associated electron holes to the total conductivity.
