Cycloisomerization of 1,6-Dienes in the Presence of Cationic Palladium Catalysts.

-Mono-and dicationic palladium complexes are investigated in a preliminary study as catalysts for bis-allylic substrates. Depending on the ionic state of the catalyst, good chemoselectivities for the products are obtained. The chiral version of the reaction in the presence of (-)-sparteine as additive gives only low enantioselectivities. Heteroatoms are compatible with the cationic catalysts.
