Crystal Structure of a Quaternary Nd-Ni-Si-B Compound -Refinement of Synchrotron Radiation Data.
-A sample of nominal composition NdNi 8 SiB 3 is synthesized by arc melting of the corresponding elements and subsequent annealing in a sealed evacuated quartz tube at 900 • C for two weeks. The crystal structure of this new phase is determined from a Rietveld profile refinement of synchrotron radiation data. The refined compound crystallizes in a tetragonal unit cell (space group P4/nmm) and corresponds to a main phase composition of ≈NdNi 9.7
