Crystal Structure and Magnetic Properties of YbMSb, M: Cu, Ag, Au.
-The title compounds are prepared by melting stoichiometric mixtures of the elements (Ta tubes sealed under argon) and their structures are determined by powder XRD data. YbCuSb crystallizes in the ordered Ni2Intype structure, space group P63/mmc, Z = 2. YbAgSb has the TiNiSi-type structure (Pnma, Z = 4) and YbAuSi is characterized by the LiGaGe-type (P63/mc, Z = 2). Magnetic measurements reveal a temp.-independent Pauli paramagnetism for the Cu and Ag compound, while a small magnetic moment (β1 Β΅B) is observed for YbAuSb.
