โฆ Synopsis
Crystal Structure and Its Role in Electrical Properties of the Perovskite CaPbO 3 Synthesized at High Pressure. -The title compound is prepared via an optimized synthetic route. The reaction of the Ca 2 PbO 4 precursor with PbO 2 (1000 โข C, 5 GPa, 1 h) affords the orthorhombic modification of CaPbO 3 . This form of CaPbO 3 is isotypic to SrPbO 3 with the distorted perovskite-type structure of the GdFeO 3 type. The title compound crystallizes in the space group Pbnm with Z = 4 (neutron powder diffraction). The compound is an electrical insulator, which is in sharp contrast to the electrical behavior of BaPbO 3 and SrPbO 3 .
