-The structure of the title tripodand (VII) is determined by X-ray analysis. It is noteworthy that the DDQ reaction with the corresponding fluoro derivative of (IV) only gives starting material. Other oxidants such as chromyl chloride and Cer(IV)ammonium nitrate fail.
