✦ Synopsis

Convenient Intermediates for the Preparation of C-4 Modified Derivatives of Pyrimidine Nucleosides. -The synthesis of some useful intermediates (III) for the C-4 modification of uridine, 2'-deoxythymidine and 2'-deoxyuridine is presented. Based on these intermediates, the corresponding 4-methylamino-, 4-methoxy-, and 4-thioxo-derivatives (V), (VII), and ( VIII), resp., are obtained in excellent yields.
