Condensation of 3-Oxo-2-phenylimino-2,3-dihydroindole with Malonodinitrile.

-Knoevenagel condensation of the title indole (I) with malonodinitrile ( II) gives the known dicyanomethylene-substituted compound (III) and the new product (IV) in ratios depending on the reaction conditions.
