CIT-5: A High-Silica Zeolite with 14-Ring Pores.
-CIT-5, a novel extra-large pore zeolite is synthesized under hydrothermal conditions from mixtures containing LiOH using N(16)-methylsparteinium as organic structure directing agent. In the absence of Al 2 O 3 pure-silica CIT-5 can be formed. According to the synchrotron powder XRD data the structure of this sample (orthorhombic, space group Imma) is composed of one-dimensional extra-large pores of nearly circular cross section consisting of 14-T-atom membered rings (tetrahedrally coordinated Si atoms). The calcined materials remain crystalline to ยฟ 900
