-Single-crystal X-ray analysis of both photochemical products of 2-cyclohexenone, tricyclic title compounds (I) and (II) shows that the cyclobutane ring is twisted in the head-to-head isomer (I) but flat in the head-to-tail compound (II) and that the six-membered rings adopt flattened chair conformations as expected.
