Various azohenzenes and azoxy~nzenes were reduced almost quantitatively to the corresponding hydrazohenzenes by sodium dithionite under mild conditions without the formation of aniline derivatives, using dioetyl vioiogen as an electron-transfer catalyst in acetouitrile-water.
