CePS 4 Electronic Structure and Optical Properties.
-CePS 4 and some solid solutions La 1-x CexPS 4 (0β€xΒ‘1) are prepared by solid state reaction of Ce 2 S 3 , P 2 S 5 , and additionally La 2 S 3 (evacuated quartz tube, 900 β’ C). Single crystal XRD results for CePS 4 show a tetragonal space group I4 1 /acd with Z = 16. Diffuse reflectance spectra of CePS 4 and of the solid solutions indicate that the electronic absorption mechanism in CePS 4 , a 4f 1 β5d 0 transition on the Ce III ions, is the same as in Ξ³-Ce 2 S 3 , with only the band gap width being modified. -(GAUTHIER, G.;
